Coronavirus Information for Faculty

Throughout the fall semester, we will be adding assorted messages to assist faculty in delivery of their courses. The most recently posted messages are from the Library and the Center for Teaching – use the Library status link or the Center for Teaching message to faculty link to read these recent updates.

Other items to note:

ReFocus Online Workshops – review what was offered over the summer, see the work that was done.

In looking back at this program, I’ll borrow the words of Center for Teaching Director Victoria Russell: “it’s hard to know what to say, other than THANK YOU…

  • for making space for community when connections can feel frayed and frazzled
  • for honestly sharing your challenges and being open to ideas shared by colleagues
  • for reimagining what ‘great teaching and learning’ looks like while maintaining the spirit and heart of a UMW education.”

Summer session 2020 was based entirely on distance education formats.

The summer session ended on July 23. I appreciate everyone’s support, positivity, and cooperation as we worked to ensure the safety and well-being of our campus community. You might be interested in knowing that summer session enrollment (credit hours) increased by 26.5% over the results of the prior summer. That’s one excellent outcome achieved thanks to everyone’s dedicated efforts that enabled us to make a successful pivot to a fully online summer session.
