Subject: Library services in August and after classes begin

Dear colleagues,

Beginning on Monday, August 3, Simpson Library will be open to university faculty, staff, and students from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday.  All visitors to the library will need to have on a mask, and we are encouraging everyone to make their visits brief.  Our friends in Facilities have installed a plexiglass barrier at the circulation desk, and that is going to be our main point of service for reference and circulation.

When classes begin, our plan is to be open the following hours:

Monday – Thursday, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Sunday, 1 p.m. – 8 p.m.

We will be closed all day on Saturday.

This is an excellent time for you to think about what materials you want your students to access this fall.  We are not going to be circulating physical reserve items, but we will scan any content you want your students to access to include in your Canvas Library Reading Lists.  My staff have been busy all summer scanning reserve materials, and we’re going to be doing our level best to get you and your students the materials they need, in person and online.

I’ve attached a document that gives more information on the library’s services for the Fall.  Please let us know if there is anything you need from us!
