Faculty member’s tenure and/or promotion request in writing to department chair and to Dean
candidates will have access to the Canvas course template where they can build their credentials file. From this date until the close of the file, the candidate can completely control who has access to the file. They will be a “teacher” in the Canvas course with the power to enroll others (e.g., dept. chair, mentors, dept. colleagues, etc.).

– At 12 noon, the Dean’s office admin will change the candidate’s role in the course to that of a “student” thereby leaving them with read only access to the credentials file.
– Also, at 12 noon, the Dean’s office admin will enroll the department chair into the course as a teacher, thereby allowing them access to upload letters of recommendation.

File available in Dean’s Office to candidate to review materials and to write letter of exception or explicationSeptember 12, 2025
File closed to candidate and made available to P&T Committee
– At 5 pm, candidates and their chair are removed from the course by the Dean’s office admin. Members of the CAS P&T Committee are enrolled in the course as students, allowing them to read the credentials file.
September 19, 2025
P&T Committee recommendations to College Dean
– At 5 pm, members of the P&T Committee are removed from the Canvas course, and the Dean is enrolled as a “student”.
January 12, 2026
College Dean notifies candidate of P&T Committee’s recommendationsJanuary 19, 2026
Deadline for candidates to file appeals to College DeanJanuary 26, 2026
Deadline for College Dean to establish tenure and/or promotion appeal advisory committee(s)
– When applicable, Dean’s office admin enrolls members of the appeal committee as “students” in the appellant’s Canvas course, and also grants access to the files of candidates applying for the same promotion.
February 2, 2026
Recommendation(s) of appeal advisory committee(s) submitted to College Dean
– Appeal committee is removed from the relevant Canvas courses, thereby laving access only to the Dean.
February 23, 2026
College Dean informs appellants of the recommendations of the appeal advisory committee(s)February 27, 2026
College Dean makes recommendations to Provost with copy to faculty member and his/her chair
– Provost is added to the relevant Canvas courses.
March 6, 2026
Deadline for candidate to appeal to the ProvostMarch 13, 2026
Provost makes recommendations to the President with copy to faculty member, his/her chair, and the College Dean
– President is added to the relevant Canvas courses.
March 20, 2026
