Training Information
All faculty and students who work with non-human vertebrates need to have IACUC certification of training. Please follow the information below and make sure that you send a copy of your certificate to the Chair of the IACUC (Dr. Parrish Waters).
Certifications expire after 3 years and must be renewed.
UMW uses the CITI Animal Care and Use training and testing for IACUC certification.
All Researchers take one course. The course has several modules which are followed by a short quiz. You can go back after finishing a quiz to re-do it, if you have missed any questions. Please go to the following link, https://www.citiprogram.org/ make an account and select the Animal Care course.
You will need to complete the basic course and any specialized courses based on your specific research organism (rodent, zebrafish, etc). Please save a copy of the certification certificate and input the record number into the IACUC protocol where indicated. All Faculty must input all student certification numbers on their applications.
